While Capital Metro’s MetroRail typically does not offer Saturday rides to or from Leander, the agency is extending its service this weekend for the Pecan Street Festival in downtown Austin, according to a Capital Metro statement May 3.

The 42nd annual spring Pecan Street Festival takes place on Sixth Street in Austin May 4-5. The biannual festival's handle stems from Sixth Street’s original name and features food, local music acts, family activities and art vendors.

Attendees from Leander can take the MetroRail all day Saturday between the Leander and downtown stations, Capital Metro said. The last northbound departure will be at 12:43 a.m., according to the statement.

There will be no Sunday MetroRail service.

The festival takes place from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday. Readers can learn more about the event at www.pecanstreetfestival.org and more about the MetroRail schedule by clicking here.
