Celebrate the first weekend of May with one or all of these events happening in Cedar Park and Leander this weekend, May 5-7.
May 5
Concerts in the park. The Cedar Park Parks and Recreation department hosts the cover band Suede for its spring concert in the park. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food concessions will be available, but people are welcome to bring a picnic and ice chest. Glass containers are prohibited. Movies in the Park. Leander Parks and Recreation department staff present "BFG," a film adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel which tells the story of the unlikely friendship between an orphan named Sophie and the titular "big friendly giant." There will be music and games before the movie, and the film begins at dusk. Lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner are encouraged Concessions are also available. Glass containers are prohibited. Beeper’s Bonanza! Reed Elementary School Carnival. The school’s PTA is hosting its first family fun festival. Activities include a rock wall, trampoline, spin art, express kids train, soccer demo, photo booth, cake walk, inflatable obstacle course and more. $5 for a wristband, which covers all games, one popcorn and one cotton candy. An Evening with the Arts. Students and staff at Tom Glenn High School present an evening of dance, music and theater. There will be live performances, student artwork, a silent auction and refreshments. Central TX Congenital Heart Walk. The Congenital Heart Walk is a national fundraising event series benefitting the Adult Congenital Heart Association and The Children’s Heart Foundation. The Congenital Heart Walk shows the nation how a team of individuals can join together to make a difference. Funds raised will support the missions of both national nonprofit organizations.
