Leander Fire Department held the grand opening of Fire Station No. 1 on Jan. 19.

The 12,350-square-foot building cost $4.4 million, according to Fire Chief Bill Gardner.

“A firefighter spends a third of their life in a fire station,” Gardner said at the event. “You have to make it somewhere where they’re able to be at home.”

Station No. 1 is located at 460 W. San Gabriel Parkway, Leander. The station was relocated here from its original location next to Pat Bryson Municipal Hall on North Brushy Street.
