Leander will soon see gaps in sidewalks filled in the city. City Council voted unanimously Jan. 17 to allow the engineering firm Binkley & Barfield Inc. to design, bid and provide construction administration services to complete gaps along Crystal Falls Parkway between Glass Drive and Overland Drive. “It’s sorely needed,”Mayor Pro Tem Michelle Stephenson said. The vote comes after the planning and zoning commission recommended filling in sidewalk gaps throughout Leander in 2018. The commission developed a list of sidewalk gaps around the city and prioritized them. The additions on Crystal Falls will be the first in a yearly project to address sidewalk gaps in Leander as budgets allow, according to city documents. The project on Crystal Falls costs $36,000 for professional services, not including construction costs. Leander city spokesperson Mike Neu said the sidewalks are estimated to be complete in September.
