Improvements are coming to Veterans Memorial Park in Cedar Park. City Council voted unanimously at the Nov. 8 meeting to approve a resolution authorizing Smith Contracting Co. to complete construction. Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale was absent from the meeting. The Veterans Memorial Park Improvement Project includes adding sidewalks and stairs with handrails to the park as well as renovating the existing play field, dog park and pond. Drinking fountains, benches and other items will also be replaced, according to city documents. Construction is not to exceed $370,825.25, according to city documents. The project is a Type B Community Development Corp.-funded capital improvement project for fiscal year 2018. Emily D. Truman, the city’s stormwater program manager, said the improvements are expected to be completed in spring 2019. Smith Contracting Co. recently worked on projects including VFW Park in Georgetown and Gus Garcia Park in Austin, Truman said.
