Cedar Park City Council voted unanimously Thursday to submit a grant application for the Lakeline Park project to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

If awarded the grant, the city will commit to a one-to-one match of $500,000, according to city documents. The funds will go to park amenities like trails and pavilions.

Lakeline Park, which will be the city’s largest park, consists of about 189 acres of undeveloped land surrounding Lakeline Lake in south Cedar Park. Most of the property lies in the 100-year floodplain of the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District Dam No. 6 in the Buttercup Creek Watershed, according to the Lakeline Park Master Plan.

Plans for the park include trails, sports fields and areas for water sports.

The grant application is due Oct. 1, and awards are usually announced in March, according to city documents.
