Cedar Park residents may soon have the opportunity to fish, boat and practice sports at a new city park.

At 189 acres, Lakeline Park will be the city’s largest park. Cedar Park held a public meeting Aug. 27 to present a refined concept plan for the property, which surrounds the Lakeline Lake.

The plan includes features such as a splash pad, trails, sports fields and an area for water sports such as kayaking and fishing.

Miguel Villarreal, who serves as the secretary and treasurer of the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District, attended the meeting with concerns about the district’s dam that is located inside the proposed park. He pointed out a proposed trail along the top of the dam.

“My concern is there’s excavation to build this sidewalk and geotechnically or structurally it could compromise the dam, if it’s not designed properly to address those issues,” he said.
