Three Cedar Park City Council members took their oaths of office Thursday following an official canvassing of votes after the May 5 election, and the city's new mayor was sworn in earlier in the week.

Mel Kirkland won the Cedar Park City Council Place 2 seat, Mike Guevara was elected to the Place 4 seat and Dorian Chavez won the Place 6 seat. Corbin Van Arsdale was elected as mayor May 5 but was out of town Thursday, so he was previously sworn in on Monday morning, according to the city.

City staff and state Rep. Tony Dale, R-Cedar Park, recognized former Cedar Park Mayor Matt Powell and former City Council Members Cobby Caputo and Kristyne Bollier for their service during Thursday's meeting.
