Cedar Park's population increased by 33.2 percent between 2010 and 2016, according to estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau. The following information is provided by the Census Bureau's 2017 American Community Survey and the city of Cedar Park.

Top issues for 2018

1. Economic development
Cedar Park Mayor Matt Powell said he thinks “ensuring job growth and maximizing use of remaining undeveloped land” is among the city's most important topics for 2018. He said there is now more interest in office space in the city, and that the next step for Cedar Park is to grow in the direction of a robust professional job market.

2. Bell Boulevard
The city of Cedar Park aims to keep the current momentum going for the Bell Boulevard redevelopment project, Powell said. The project includes realigning Bell for about a mile along the current Old Hwy. 183, which will open up space for a walkable, mixed-use district. In November the city asked for public feedback on the project to guide plans for the character of the redevelopment district.

3. Mixed-use developments desired
Powell said city studies have shown that Cedar Park can hold more retail and office space, and residents have also been asking for things such as more entertainment, hospitality options and parks. He said there is a strong market for developments with a mix of uses in Cedar Park.

4. Quality of life
Powell said city leaders have an ongoing commitment to making Cedar Park police and firefighters the best-trained and best-equipped they can be. He said the city's No. 1 priority is making residents feel safe in their community, and the best thing to do is have an ongoing commitment to public safety.
