With all votes tallied from early voting and Election Day, here are the results:

District 3

Anne Duffy: 1,863 votes (57.84 percent) in Williamson County, 42 votes (64.62 percent) in Travis County
Lyle Grimes: 1,358 votes (42.16 percent) in Williamson County, 23 votes (35.38 percent) in Travis County

District 5

Heather Jefts: 1,868 votes (57.87 percent) in Williamson County, 41 votes (63.08 percent) in Travis County
Jon Lux: 1,360 votes (42.13 percent) in Williamson County, 24 votes (36.92 percent) in Travis County

At an election watch party at The Dig Pub in Cedar Park, both of the challengers said they were excited about the opportunity to join the council dais.

"We met our goal," Duffy said. "We wanted to bring change, and that means new blood."

The two candidates for Cedar Park City Council seats who took the lead in early voting continue to hold onto the top spot as polling locations in Williamson and Travis counties report Election Day numbers.

Candidates Anne Duffy and Heather Jefts continue to lead for two spots on Cedar Park City Council.

For Place 3, Duffy leads with 1,263 votes, or 57.8 percent, against incumbent Lyle Grimes. He trails with 922 votes, or 42.2 percent of the vote, according to results from Williamson County. In Travis County, Duffy leads with 42 votes, or 64.62 percent, and Grimes has 23 votes, or 35.38 percent.

For Place 5, Jefts has 1,259 votes, or 57.49 percent, and incumbent John Lux has 931 votes, or 42.51 percent of the vote, according to results from Williamson County. In Travis County, Jefts leads with 41 votes, or 63.08 percent, and Lux has 24 votes, or 36.92 percent.

After early voting results came in, Jefts was optimistic about the outlook of the race.

"I am really excited," she said. "I’m going to keep watching through the rest of the night, and I’m really, really hopeful about the outcome of this election."

If elected, Jefts said she would first focus on the Bell Boulevard project and the city's budget. She also spoke on how voters responded to her message.

“I think people were really looking for someone to give the entire population in Cedar Park a voice, and I think a lot of people were feeling like their voices weren’t being heard when they were trying to talk to the council,” she said.

Challengers Anne Duffy and Heather Jefts are leading in two Cedar Park City Council races, according to early voting election results released shortly after polls closed at 7 p.m.

Duffy, a registered nurse, is challenging incumbent Lyle Grimes for Place 3, and Jefts, a small-business owner, is challenging incumbent Jon Lux for the Place 5 seat.

Place 1

Incumbent Stephen Thomas is running unopposed.

Place 3

For Place 3, the numbers show Duffy leading the way with 1,125 votes, or 57.46 percent of the vote, and Grimes follows with 833 votes, or 42.54 percent, according to results from Williamson County.

In a Q&A with Community Impact Newspaper, Duffy said her top priorities would be competitive wages, recruitment, and retention for firefighters and police officers, giving attention to sensible growth and quality of life.

Grimes is a corporate sales manager with American Airlines and has served on City Council since 2013. In his Q&A, he said he has worked to lower the property tax rate, bring jobs to Cedar Park and increase public safety investments.

Place 5

For Place 5, Jefts leads with 1,123 votes, or 57.3 percent of the vote, while Lux has 837 votes, or 42.7 percent, according to results from Williamson County.

In her Q&A responses, Jefts said she would like to restart negotiations with Capital Metro, stop the practice of appointments for open seats and place the Cedar Park’s Bell Boulevard redevelopment project on hold.

Lux is an information technology program manager and has served on City Council since 2012. In his Q&A, he said public safety, having a balanced budget and creating an environment to entire more shops, restaurants, and jobs to the city would be his top priorities.
