Cedar Park


1. Anderson Mill Road realignment
The city of Cedar Park is realigning Anderson Mill Road between RM 1431 and Lime Creek Road and constructing it as a four-lane and two-lane roadway with turn lanes at various driveways and intersections. Phase 1 of the project consists of reconstructing Anderson Mill to become a two-lane roadway in each direction from RM 1431 to Lime Creek along with turn lanes at intersections. Phase 2 would add two lanes on the north end of the project and two lanes on Anderson Mill through the Deer Creek Ranch neighborhood. Construction on the $7.9 million project began in January and is expected to last about 15 months.


2. New Hope Drive extension
The city plans to extend New Hope Drive from Cottonwood Creek Trail to Ronald Reagan Boulevard. City staff is in the process of acquiring right of way for the $10.8 million project, and construction is anticipated to begin in June and take approximately 12 months to complete. 


3. RM 1431 Gap Project
In February, the Texas Department of Transportation began a $12.8 million project to expand RM 1431 from four to six lanes between Market Street and Cottonwood Creek Trail. The project is meant to match the six-lane East Whitestone Boulevard pass-through project that runs from Market to Sam Bass Road, which was completed by the city of Cedar Park, Williamson County and the state transportation agency in 2016. Construction began in late February and is expected to be complete in late 2018 or early 2019, according to TxDOT.



Leander


4. North Bagdad Road widening
Construction crews are planning to widen part of North Bagdad Road from two to five lanes, which includes a center turn lane, between Old FM 2243 and Collaborative Way in Leander. The $13 million project will also include new storm sewers, sidewalks and utilities on both sides of the road. Construction was planned to begin at the end of March and is expected to last about 18 months.


5. Old FM 2243 widening
The city of Leander is widening Old FM 2243 from two to five lanes, including a center turn lane, between US 183 and a location west of North Lakeline Boulevard. The project includes relocations of utility lines and conversion of drainage ditches to storm sewers under new lanes as well as added lanes for cross streets. Construction began on the $24 million project in January 2016, and crews have kept at least one lane open in each direction. Leander City Engineer Wayne Watts said the majority of the project should be complete in October with only minor roadwork to remain, and he expects Old FM 2243 to be completely finished by Thanksgiving.


6. Raider Way and East Woodview Drive roadway improvements
The city of Leander is planning roadway improvements to Raider Way and East Woodview Drive, which was approved by Leander voters in a May 2015 bond election. The project includes widening both roads and improvements to curbs, gutters, storm sewers, street lighting, water-quality facilities, detention facilities, sidewalks, turn lanes and traffic signals at Raider and Crystal Falls Parkway. The city is in the process of acquiring right of way for the project, and construction is expected to begin in the summer.


7. North Brushy Street streetscape
The city will implement streetscape improvements along North Brushy Street in Old Town Leander. The project will include adding on-street parking, streetlights, landscaping, street furniture and signage. Leander City Council approved the second round of design for the project in February, and construction could start on the streetscape in the fall.
