Cedar Park City Council approved a construction contract for intersection improvements along Brushy Creek Road, Lakeline Boulevard and Discovery Boulevard during a Thursday night meeting.

The 2016 roadway intersection improvement project includes constructing right-turn lanes on two points along Brushy Creek, at Vista Ridge Boulevard and Lynwood Trail, and another right-turn lane on the southbound side of Lakeline at Old Mill Road. The project also includes construction of a median break on Discovery just south of Whitestone Boulevard, which will allow drivers to more easily get out of the IHOP restaurant, said Darwin Marchell, Cedar Park director of engineering.

The city received five bids for the construction of the improvements, and City Council voted to execute a contract with Aaron Concrete Contractor L.P. in an amount not to exceed $514,340.50.

The roadway intersection improvements are a capital improvement project identified in the fiscal year 2016-17 budget, and the project is funded by the Cedar Park Community Development Corp., or 4B Board.

Marchell said city staff hopes to start construction on the intersections in May, and construction is expected to last 150 calendar days.
