On March 24, Cedar Park City Council approved a reduced monthly rate for trash collection. Effective immediately, Cedar Park residents will see their monthly waste collection bills drop from $20.22 to $19.43, said Daron Butler, Cedar Park director of business services. The city is contracted with Central Texas Refuse to provide solid waste and recycling collection services for Cedar Park homes. According to city documents, Central Texas Refuse’s inflation and disposal costs increased in 2015 by a total of 1.73 percent. However, diesel fuel costs have decreased in 2015 by about 4.7 percent in one year, which offsets a potential rate increase. For example, Central Texas Refuse paid $3.21 per gallon of diesel fuel in December 2014, but paid $2.14 per gallon of diesel fuel in December 2015, according to city documents.
