As of Feb 11. inclement weather is projected for the Greater Austin area, with freezing temperatures and even a possible snowfall expected to continue into early next week.

Parents and students at Lake Travis ISD will not need to wait for decisions surrounding a snow day. Students will be off from school from Feb. 11-15 due to previously scheduled staff development days, according to LTISD Communications Director Marco Alvarado.

In-person and virtual classes are scheduled to resume Feb. 16, barring any changes regarding ongoing inclement weather. LTISD will communicate any decisions concerning additional school closures with the community as soon as possible, Alvarado said.

Furthermore, the city of Lakeway released a weather alert Feb. 11 urging residents to take caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Last month’s snowstorm resulted in multiple vehicle collisions in the Lakeway region, according to city information.

“The most recent weather event could last longer, with even more accumulation possible early next week,” the alert stated.

Lakeway homeowners may also take steps to prevent frozen pipes, according to the Lakeway Municipal Utility District. Residents should consider wrapping exposed pipes, turning off their irrigation systems, disconnecting hoses from outdoor faucets and keeping sink water in a continuous drip.
