Flint Rock Road and RM 620 intersection improvements now complete

Traffic delays on RM 620 in Lakeway should be a little less prominent at the thoroughfare’s intersection with Flint Rock Road.

Backups became more frequent at that area leading up to the April 10 completion of a project headed by the Texas Department of Transportation that sought to ease traffic by adjusting Flint Rock and improving infrastructure on the intersection.

The work consisted of reconfiguring the lane assignments on Flint Rock to allow for a dedicated right turn onto southbound RM 620, according to TxDOT Public Information Officer Bradley Wheelis.

“The previous configuration had a shared through- and right-turn lane,” Wheelis said. “The new configuration will help alleviate backups on Flint Rock Road.”
