The Texas Department of Transportation has scheduled informational sessions for the public to learn about upcoming mobility projects in the Westlake and Lake Travis area.
Sept. 20 - Public Workshop on reconstruction of Loop 360 and Westlake Drive

TxDOT will hold a public workshop to discuss the reconstruction of the Loop 360 and Westlake Drive intersection. This is the first of nine intersections along Loop 360—also known as Capital of Texas Highway— to be reconstructed, according to a press release put out by TxDOT.

The release states that the proposed improvements include "removing the traffic signals from the main lanes of Loop 360, constructing either an overpass or an underpass, and adding a bike/pedestrian shared-use path within the project limits."

The workshop will be on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 4-7 p.m. at Riverbend Church, located at 4214 N. Capital of Texas Highway, Austin.

Oct. 10 - Open House regarding RM 620 widening

TxDOT will hold an open house for the public to take a look at the department’s proposal to widen a section of RM 620 from four lanes to six.

A TxDOT press release states that the proposed project will include raised medians and a continuous bike/pedestrian shared-use path along the corridor.

“We’re in the early stages of planning and anticipate environmental clearance by mid-2020,” the release states. “The rapid growth in Travis County has placed increased demand on RM 620. In most cases, it’s the sole access to subdivisions, businesses and schools in the area. The addition of a third lane in each direction will increase mobility and safety.”

The open house will be on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek in Lakeway.
