South By Southwest Conferences & Festivals begin this week
Beginning Friday, South by Southwest Conferences & Festivals will bring movies, music and speakers to various venues throughout Austin.
SXSWedu, the festival’s education component, began this morning and brings together students, teachers, administrators and other experts in the education field to discuss the future of teaching and learning.

Rollingwood City Council will meet tonight
In anticipation of spring break and South by Southwest Conferences & Festivals, Council will meet Monday, earlier than normal for its March meeting.
Council will discuss and could approve a
hands-free ordinance that would ban the use of hand-held devices, such as phones, while driving.
Council meets at 403 Nixon Drive, Rollingwood, and the meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Travis County Commissioners Court to discuss Masonwood development Tuesday
After postponing action on a preliminary plan Feb. 28 for a proposed almost 700-lot Masonwood development, Travis County commissioners will again discuss the item at Tuesday’s meeting.
Travis County Commissioners Court takes place at 700 Lavaca Street, Austin, at 9 a.m.

Lakeway Municipal Utility District will discuss sale of land Wednesday
Lakeway MUD will discuss the sale of a
78-acre tract of land—bordered by RR 620, Lohmans Crossing and Rolling Green Drive—to Legend Communities at its Wednesday meeting.
The MUD meets at 1097 Lohmans Crossing, Lakeway, at 9:30 a.m.

West Lake Hills City Council will meet Wednesday
Council is scheduled to discuss proposed rezoning for Westlake Auto and Westlake Grocery, which was postponed from the city’s last meeting, as well as area improvement projects.
Council convenes at 911 Westlake Drive, West Lake Hills, and the meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The ABC Zilker Kite Festival was rescheduled for Sunday
Due to rain, the ABC Zilker Kite Festival at Zilker Park, 2100 Barton Springs Road, Austin, was rescheduled for Sunday. Visit

May elections canceled in Eanes and Lake Travis ISDs
Both Eanes and Lake Travis ISDs canceled their school board elections on March 2 that were to be scheduled for May 6 because all candidates who filed were set to run unopposed.

The Lakeway Swim Center will be closed for maintenance starting Saturday
From March 11-April 2, the Lakeway Swim Center will be closed due to maintenance on the lap pool, leisure pool and slides. The closure will affect those in the Lost Creek Aquatics Swim Team and those who participate in Lakeway water aerobics classes.
