The Battle Brothers are running for other people’s lives.
Nonprofit founder Tanor Offel, a freshman at Lake Travis High School, came up with the idea to race to raise money for a cause while he was on a run with his dad. Offel and his brother gathered a few friends and kicked off the project in January.
“Instead of raising money for something big like the American Cancer Society, we wanted to change the world one life at a time,” Offel said.
The group is currently training and fundraising for a Spartan, a trail race that includes obstacles, at the end of October.
The money they raise will go to a retired U.S. Navy Seal who lost a leg on an overseas tour and is now battling Stage 3 cancer.
The group is called Battle Brothers as a tribute to Offel and his brother but is open to everyone.
