A section of Redbud Trail has been reduced temporarily to one lane so that crews can construct a fence along the shoulder to prevent rocks and debris from falling into the roadway.
Traffic is reduced to one lane from Red Bud Isle to just before Stratford Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Flaggers are on location to help direct traffic.
Construction is expected to be completed June 21.
“Our crews are working really quickly, so we’re hoping it will be done sooner,” said Alex Bruton, Austin Public Works Department public information specialist.
She said the fence is a “proactive measure” the city is taking after receiving information that debris and rocks have been falling onto the road between Lake Austin Boulevard and Stratford Drive.
