LISD clothes closets offer gently used clothes, new underwear and new socks to students from prekindergarten to high school who live in LISD boundaries. No vouchers or income verification is needed for shopping. Each student can receive 10 tops, 10 bottoms, two pairs of shoes, new underwear, new socks, and two coats or hoodies per semester.
The LISD Council of PTAs, which operates the district's two clothes closets, opened a second clothes closet in October to serve the southern area of the school district. The northern clothes closet location is located at 324 S. West Drive, Leander.
People interested in helping the clothes closets can register to volunteer, donate items to either location or purchase items from the Amazon wishlist.
River Place Elementary is located at 6500 Sitio Del Rio Blvd., Austin. Clothes closet hours and additional information are available online.
