According to data from the latest U.S. census information released Dec. 19, the city of Lakeway is continuing to build more new residential developments and expand existing residential developments, which is one reason for its 15.41% population increase from 2014-18. Of note, the number of female Lakeway residents surpassed male residents in 2015 and almost every year since have widened the gap. In 2018, according to U.S. census numbers, females in Lakeway now outnumber males 7,763 to 6,914, accounting for a 12.27% difference.
Home values have been on the rise throughout Travis County, and Lakeway is no exception. From 2017-18, the median home value in the city jumped from $430,500 to $464,100, accounting for a 7.8% increase, according to the data.
The number of Lakeway residents with a bachelor’s degree appears to be on the rise. In 2017, roughly 66.3% of residents held a bachelor’s degree or higher. In 2018, that rose to 67.2%, according to the data.
