Humann cofounder and CEO Joel Kocher said his Austin-born and based wellness company believes cardiovascular health is "not a niche or trendy fad," and has developed a range of cardiovascular health products since 2010.
The background
Humann was founded from a University of Texas Health Science Center research program, Kocher said. The program emerged from the work of Dr. Ferid Murad, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine in 1998 for discoveries around nitric oxide and and cardiovascular function which Humann utilizes in its products.
"Nitric oxide is considered to be the most important molecule in the cardiovascular system," Kocher said. "[Murad's] breakthrough work in nitric oxide paved the way for a new understanding of how blood flow impacts heart health, endurance and performance. ... Our early partnerships with local researchers and The University of Texas built credibility and proved our science in real time."
