Bee Cave City Council met May 12 to discuss and approve several items, including swearing in the re-elected City Council members and mayor, appointing a mayor pro tem and approving funding for the upcoming B.E. F.A.S.T. volleyball tournament.

Council swore in Mayor Kara King, council member Kit Crumbley and council member Andrea Willott.
The council canvassed the results of the May 2 election and declared them official.
Willott, Crumbley and King previously served in their elected positions.
Appointing a mayor pro tem
Council also re-appointed Andrew Clark to serve as the mayor pro tem.
Clark will serve as mayor in the King’s absence or inability to perform mayoral duties.
Bee Cave holds a tradition in which the council member who has served the longest is appointed mayor pro tem, King said.
Clark previously served as mayor pro tem last term and was reappointed.
Approving funding for the B.E. F.A.S.T. volleyball tournament
On June 13-14, the Bee Cave Chamber of Commerce will host the B.E. F.A.S.T. Summer Invitational Volleyball Tournament. The event serves as an opportunity to raise money and awareness for stroke education and recovery, according to city documents.
It was the chamber’s first time applying for funds from the Hotel Occupancy Fund—which offers financial support to organizations through the Local Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue—under this process. City Council would need to grant an exception for the request, as the application was submitted after the Hotel Occupancy Tax Policy deadline.
Council approved the chamber's request for $5,000.
