Early voting results show most voters in West Lake Hills are casting their ballots in favor of incumbent council member Dana Harmon for City Council Place 1 in the city’s May 3 election, according to early voting results from Travis County.
The overview
Only Council Place 1 was contested this year, with Harmon and candidate Joe Swider running for the seat.
Results so far show that Harmon has received 436 votes, or 84.82% of all votes, and Joe Swider has received 78 votes, or 15.18% of all votes.
If re-elected, Dana Harmon will hold her seat on council for two years.
The details
Council member Harmon was first elected to her seat in 2023. Now running for a second term, Harmon has stated that she is committed to updating the city’s master plan and codes to reflect the current needs of residents.
Additionally, Harmon has stated that she is focused on preserving natural beauty, wildfire prevention, wastewater capacity, responsible development, and economic sustainability.
As a newcomer to the scene, Swider brings a background in psychiatry with a goal of lowering property taxes.

Council members Beth South and Gordon Bowman, in council places 3 and 5 respectively, were re-elected to their seats without any contest.
In the next election, council places 2 and 4 will be up for re-election, as well as the city’s mayoral seat. These positions are currently held by Darin Walker, Brian Plunkett, and Mayor James Vaughan.
