The cause
The decision was made following a year of personal difficulties, including the death of Hohl’s mother after a prolonged illness, according to a city news release.
“Losing a loved one puts life into perspective and forces a reckoning of priorities,” Hohl said in the news release. “Working full-time, raising two children and serving on the City Council has not left any space to grieve the loss of my mother.”
Her thoughts
In her statement, Hohl thanked fellow council members, city staff and residents of Bee Cave for their support and shared well wishes for the city’s continued growth.
“I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and the friends I have made over these past five years of service to Bee Cave,” Hohl said. “I am hopeful the City Council and staff will continue to make progress toward a stronger, more prosperous community.”
What’s next?
The city of Bee Cave will hold an election in May to fill the vacant seat, according to the news release. Until then, the city’s charter allows council to appoint a temporary official to fill the vacancy. An appointment has not been made as of press time.
