West Lake Hills city officials issued a proclamation during a May 27 meeting in honor of all 2020 graduates from high school students to college seniors and beyond: May in West Lake Hills will be known as "Class of 2020 Month" to celebrate all graduating seniors within city limits.

In-person graduation ceremonies have been modified, postponed or canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Residents have stepped up to recognize the graduating seniors who have faced tremendous change by organizing car parades and decorating the streets.

Mayor Linda Anthony said the city wanted to honor those students who have worked hard to push forward to the future and who will continue to rise to meet challenges.

“This milestone for so many needs recognition beyond ribbons and yard signs,” Mayor Linda Anthony said.

The motion was passed unanimously by City Council.
