Following deliberation in executive session during the Jan. 21 Lakeway City Council meeting, officials voted to contract with Julie Oakley and for her to become the new city manager.

The appointment comes following Council Member Gretchen Vance's motion during a Nov. 18 council meeting, which authorized Mayor Sandy Cox to negotiate and execute Oakley's employment agreement, but no timeline was set for when Oakley would officially take over the role.

Oakley was named interim city manager following executive session of a Sept. 9 council meeting. That decision came in the wake of the sudden Aug. 19 resignation of Steve Jones, who had been Lakeway's city manager since 2005.
