The green light for the study came during council’s special session Dec. 9 and will be headed by Oakley and include assistance from Council Members Steve Smith and Gretchen Vance.
Oakley requested $50,000 already in the city's budget for the hiring of a consultant to aid in the study and earmarked funding to come from the city’s capital reserve fund.
Questions for the study, according to city information, will include what level of service is necessary to meet municipal needs and demand for services; whether more or less of a certain resource is required for those needs; and whether resources are organized and managed in order to maximize performance.
“I really think it’s going to be a great asset for us to have this plan moving forward,” Oakley said.
