The events on April 1, which go from 12:30-4:30 p.m., will include author readings, panels, interactive activities, bee education and free wildflower seeds.
This year’s festival includes 20 authors, according to a press release from the city. New York Times bestselling thriller writers Jeff Abbott and Meg Gardiner will be present, along with Wendi Aarons, Jeff Abbott and Laura Fisk and many others. Panels with acclaimed children’s authors as well as instruction on how to to compose and illustrate stories will be available for tweens and teens at the festival.
In addition to the author readings and book signings, there will be a live concert with The Singing Zoologist, a craft and storytime tent, and an interactive show about bees.
The first 25 attendees to arrive and who registered ahead of time will receive a special limited-edition Buzzy the Bee plushie and book, according to the press release. Limit one per family.
On April 2, the Books and Bees Festival will feature Honeyfest. Beginning at 10 a.m. Honeyfest will have a honey tasting contest, balloon artists, local authors and a special bee-themed farmer’s market.
