For the first time in more than 60 years, Zilker Theatre Productions will hold its summer musical series in a new location.
The summer 2021 production of the musical "Little Shop of Horrors" has been relocated from Austin’s Beverly S. Sheffield Zilker Hillside Theater to the Bee Cave shopping center, Hill Country Galleria, according to an April 26 news release from the city of Bee Cave.
The Austin-based nonprofit organization has been working for more than a year to continue its Broadway-grade musical amid the pandemic. In an effort to ensure the community’s safety, Zilker Productions sought a new venue, according to the release.
“In the interest of securing a smaller venue to better maintain COVID-safe protocols and to comply with the City of Austin ordinances, we have partnered with Hill Country Galleria and the City of Bee Cave to bring this summer’s production to life,” Executive Artistic Director Andrew Cannata said in the release.
The free-admission event will be held at the Galleria’s Central Plaza lawn every Thursday through Sunday from July 9 through Aug. 14 at 8:15 p.m. Advanced reservations will be required to ensure COVID-19 safety and will become available in June, according to the release.
Designated spots will also be marked on the lawn to practice social distancing measures, and attendees will be encouraged to arrive early.
More information on the show’s cast and production can be found online. Ticket reservations and additional information will be released at a later date.
