The district's search for a new leader follows the resignation of former Superintendent Paul Norton, who led the district since 2020.
The details
LTISD will host a town hall meeting to discuss its superintendent search with the community at 6 p.m. March 10 at the Lake Travis Performing Arts Center. Community members will be able to share their views and expectations for the new superintendent with district leaders.
Additionally, community members can complete an online survey to provide feedback on the superintendent search. The survey asks respondents to rank which traits they value in a superintendent, three areas in which LTISD excels and three challenges the next superintendent should prioritize.
The update
The board named former Round Rock ISD Superintendent Steve Flores as LTISD’s interim superintendent at a Feb. 26 special meeting.
The district hired executive search firm JG consulting to conduct its superintendent search, including identifying and interviewing candidates. James Guerra, president and CEO of JG consulting, said he recommended the district name a lone superintendent finalist by the end of the school year in May.
The background
In December, the LTISD board of trustees placed Norton on a paid administrative leave and launched an investigation after reviewing a report containing allegations of misconduct, according to district information.
Weeks later, the board of trustees voted to accept Norton’s resignation at a Feb. 7 special meeting. School board President Erin Archer said the complaint against Norton “did not relate to students or district finances.”
Community Impact filed multiple public information requests with LTISD concerning the allegations against Norton and is waiting to receive a response.
