Place 4 board member John Aoueille and Place 5 board member Kim Flasch will not seek re-election. For Place 3, school board President Erin Archer will face challenger Jessica Howard.
The overview
On May 3, the district will hold an election for place 3, 4 and 5 as trustees in these positions reach the end of their three-year terms. The filing period for the upcoming election closed at 5 p.m. Feb. 14, with six applicants filing before the deadline.
Flasch will not seek re-election after serving on the board since 2013 alongside John Aoueille, who was appointed to the board in 2015, according to district information. Archer was elected to the board in 2022.
“As much as I have enjoyed serving LTISD for the past 12 years, it is time for me to step down,” Flasch said in an email. “It has been a privilege and honor to serve our community.”
Aoueille told Community Impact that he is stepping down as he approaches nearly 10 years on the board.
"It's time for someone else to lead this great district," Aoueille said in an email. "I've loved being on the school board."
Craig Cancienne, who is running for Place 5, was defeated by incumbent Phillip Davis for Place 1 in the May 2024 trustees election.
