Lake Travis High School Homecoming Parade and Extravaganza
LTHS will celebrate its annual homecoming parade and extravaganza event Oct. 9 from 5-8 p.m. on campus. Hosted by the LTHS Parent Teacher Organization, the event will include a parade followed by a pep rally at Cavalier Stadium, food trucks, local vendors and games.
The free event is open to the community at large. Community members can park and receive shuttle services from Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Lakeway.
“We encourage all of the community to come out and enjoy,” said Marco Alvarado, LTISD executive director of communications and community relations.
LTHS will introduce its homecoming court at the pep rally and announce the selected king and queen at the homecoming football game Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.. The LTHS homecoming dance will take place Oct. 19.
Flu vaccines provided by Lake Hills Pharmacy
The district is partnering with Lake Hills Pharmacy to provide flu vaccines to prekindergarten through eighth grade students from Oct. 15-17 with dates varying by campus.
To receive a vaccine, parents or guardians must complete and return a consent form to their child’s school by Oct. 9. Parents should provide their prescription insurance information or a copy of their insurance card.
Families without prescription insurance must include $20 cash with their child’s form. Uninsured or underinsured children over the age of 6 months can also receive flu shots through Austin Public Health’s immunization clinics.
LTHS earns Advanced Placement School Honor Roll distinction
LTHS earned a place on College Board’s Advanced Placement School Honor Roll with a silver distinction for the 2023-24 school year, Alvarado said.
This is LTHS’ second year to receive the honor for its performance on AP exams, which allow high school students to receive college credit.
Of the more than 800 graduating seniors at LTHS last school year:
- 62% took at least one AP exam
- 51% scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam
- 21% took five or more AP exams
