Lake Travis High School students will have access to new and expanded athletic facilities in the coming school years.

Representatives from Claycomb Associates Architects presented the preliminary design for renovations to LTHS’ Cavalier Stadium and the addition of a new women’s field house at a Sept. 18 board of trustees meeting. The project will add an additional 3,800 seats to the stadium and a three-story building for women’s soccer and track teams as well as coaches' offices, district officials said.

The overview

Renovations and expansions to the LTHS football stadium will include:
  • Additional bleachers for home and visiting team fans
  • Two new locker rooms for home and visiting teams
  • A new press box
  • Two new concession stands
  • Relocating the Cavalier spirit shack from a portable building in the parking lot to the stadium
  • Additional restrooms
The renovation work will expand the stadium's capacity from around 7,400 to 11,200 people, Superintendent Paul Norton said.

Additionally, the district will build a new field house for women’s sports teams inside the stadium featuring the following amenities by level:
  • First floor: women's varsity and sub-varsity soccer locker rooms, soccer coaches office and dressing area, restrooms, and laundry and training facilities
  • Second floor: women's track locker room, track coaches office, conference room, multipurpose room for athletic team meetings and restrooms
  • Third floor: five district athletic offices, front reception area, restrooms and meeting room
The backstory

Voters approved $22.3 million to renovate Cavalier Stadium and build a new women’s field house in the district’s 2023 bond election.

The projects are intended to bring the LTISD’s athletic facilities up to the same standards as other similar-sized districts, Claycomb Associates Architects representative Jeffrey Floyd said.
