Lake Travis High School football fans may experience games in a new way this season.

The LTHS Cavaliers’ varsity football team games will be broadcast live on FM radio for the first time through Jack 96.3 FM beginning Aug. 30.

What you need to know

Fans can tune into this season’s LTHS varsity football games through the following radio stations and platforms:The Cavaliers will play their opening game against Arlington ISD's Martin High School at Choctaw Stadium at 7 p.m. Aug. 30.

Experienced broadcasters Marc Hoenig and Bucky Godbolt will provide a play-by-play for each game this season, according to a news release from Recharge Media.


The background

Local Austin music station Jack 96.3 FM reaches an average of over 600,000 monthly listeners in the greater Austin area, according to Recharge Media information. Across the nation, Jack FM is broadcast in over 45 cities to more than 7 million people each week, according to the radio station's website.

Along with LTHS, Sun Radio Sports Network broadcasts football games for Dripping Springs High School, Blanco High School, Gonzalez High School and Giddings High School.

"We’re excited Lake Travis Football will be heard this season on Jack 96.3 FM and AM 1490HD,” LTHS Head Football Coach Hank Carter said in a news release. “The huge signals, as well as Sun Radio and Jack FM streaming platforms, should create a great listening experience for Lake Travis Football fans.”

Following the Aug. 30 opener, community members can look forward to several games in September:
  • Sept. 6: LTHS v. Rockwall High School at 7:30 p.m. at Cavalier Stadium
  • Sept. 13: LTHS v. Midland Legacy High School at 7 p.m. at Astound Broadband Stadium
  • Sept. 19: LTHS v. San Marcos High School at 7:30 p.m. at Cavalier Stadium
  • Sept. 27: LTHS v. Austin ISD's Bowie High School at 7:30 p.m. at Burger Stadium
