Lake Travis ISD community members can expect to see several new schools and facilities emerge in the next couple of years.

Design work is underway on several new projects in the district as voters approved almost $800 million in bond packages in 2022 and 2023. District officials shared the status of the following bond projects with Community Impact as of Dec. 14.

High School No. 2 plus athletic facilities:
  • Expected completion date: August 2027
  • Status: in the design phase
  • Cost: $ 219.2 million
  • Funding: 2022 and 2023 bonds
  • Features: High School No. 2 plus stadiums and other facilities for football, soccer, baseball, softball, track and field, and lacrosse teams; the school will be located off Hwy. 71, southwest of the West Cypress Hills neighborhood
Elementary School No. 9:
  • Expected completion date: August 2026
  • Status: in the design phase; the district purchased 23 acres off Hamilton Pool Road for the school in September
  • Cost: $55 million
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Features: new design compared to other elementary schools due to the site’s topography
Lake Travis High School competition gym, fine arts addition and artificial turf field:
  • Expected completion date: TBD
  • Status: in the design phase with construction expected to begin in early 2025
  • Cost: $43 million for new competition gym and $15.3 million for fine arts addition
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Includes: 2,500-seat competition arena, fine arts practice areas and a practice turf field
Cavalier Stadium renovations, and women’s field house renovation and addition:
  • Expected completion date: TBD
  • Status: The board of trustees approved an architecture firm Nov. 15, but design work has not yet begun.
  • Cost: $22.3 million
  • Funding: 2023 bond
  • Features: new women’s field house and athletics offices building, competition stadium press box, and seating additions and renovations
Lake Travis High School new parking lot and Cavalier Drive Phase 2:
  • Expected completion date: August 2024
  • Status: Work will begin after the district receives a permit from Travis County and the city of Lakeway. The permitting timeline may impact the anticipated completion date.
  • Cost: $10.4 million
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Features: new parking lots west of the cafeteria parking lot, reworking of the Annex parking area, pedestrian path near the cafeteria, parking on the bus loop, improvements to pedestrian paths and parking in the main central parking lot, and widening of Cavalier Drive
Lake Travis High School agriculture building renovation and addition:
  • Expected completion date: TBD
  • Status: in the design phase with construction expected to begin in early 2025
  • Cost: $3.9 million
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Features: new barn and restroom, flooring improvements to the two existing barns, ventilation, insulation and securing against freezing temperatures, new wash bay and greenhouse
Lake Travis High School science wing addition:
  • Expected completion date: TBD
  • Status: in the design phase with construction expected to begin in early 2025
  • Cost: $15.5 million
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Features: addition of two stories with science classrooms and labs on the first floor, and classrooms on the second floor
District secure vestibules:
  • Expected completion date: TBD
  • Status: in the design phase with construction expected to begin in May 2024
  • Cost: approximately $1.3 million
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Features: renovations and improvements to existing entry vestibules districtwide
Special education improvements:
  • Expected completion date: TBD
  • Status: design work to begin in early 2024 with construction beginning in May 2025
  • Cost: $3.9 million
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Features: adding special education resources and infrastructure to all campuses through renovations
Educational Development Center addition:
  • Expected completion date: TBD
  • Status: in the design phase with construction expected to begin in early 2025
  • Cost: $6.3 million
  • Funding: 2022 bond
  • Features: additional administrative offices for curriculum and instruction department
