Lake Travis ISD officials announced July 11 that the district will be able to provide daily pickup and drop-offs to all students in need of transportation services that live outside a 2-mile radius from their school, according to a news release. Following nationwide and statewide bus driver shortages in recent years, as previously reported by Community Impact, the district has worked during the summer to ensure the transportation department is fully staffed ahead of the upcoming school year.

"During the past three months, we have welcomed six licensed drivers, eight driver trainees (becoming licensed drivers for the start of school), and two monitors to our district," the news release read.

The district will continue to recruit in the hopes of providing bus services to students within 2 miles of their school.

Eligible students and their parents can register for transportation services starting July 17 through Skyward Family Access.

Bus route information will be made available in August to parents through their parent portals.

Any parents or students with questions or concerns can contact the LTISD transportation department at 512-533-6070.
