The Eanes ISD board of trustees unanimously approved the elementary health curriculum for the 2023-24 school year at a meeting April 25, as recommended by the School Safety and Health Advisory Committee.

The curriculum will be provided by QuaverEd, an education technology company, and will consist of 196 lessons for grades K-5. Lessons will address four different dimensions of student health, including intellectual, physical, social and emotional health.

The QuaverEd curriculum is used by over 150 school districts throughout the state of Texas.

Background

Prior to the approval of the curriculum, the district had made both the health and physical education instructional materials available online for the public to view. Comments from the public were also sought at an online and in-person meeting as well as via an online form.

District staff was also given the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the curriculum.

The SSHAC held a meeting April 5, for which 17 SSHAC members were present, and voted unanimously to recommend the adoption of the curriculum to the board of trustees.
