Since 2007, The Friends of the Lake Travis Community Library has awarded more than $80,000 in scholarships to graduating teen volunteers.

The eight 2020 recipients hail from Lake Travis ISD's Lake Travis High School and Leader ISD's Vandegrift High School and contributed more than 1,000 hours of service at the library over the past six years.

The Friends of the Library meets on a quarterly basis to plan special projects and coordinate volunteer efforts. The 501(c)(3) also supports the library through book sales, volunteer work, financial contributions and more.

“We are very impressed with all of our teen volunteers, but these eight scholarship winners are particularly extraordinary,” library director Morgan McMillian said in a press release. “Because of the current crisis, their school year and volunteer service at the library didn’t end as we would have wished, and we appreciate all of their service.”

The 2020 teen volunteer scholarship recipients include:

  • Alana Clark, who plans to attend Texas State University;

  • Trinity Clark, who plans to attend Texas State University;

  • Prerana Patil, who plans to attend Dickinson College;

  • Lannie Vigo, who plans to attend Texas Woman’s University;
