Lake Travis ISD superintendent Dr. Brad Lancaster announced his retirement to the board of trustees during the closed session of an Oct. 18 regular board meeting.
After 37 years of service in public education and eight and a half years at LTISD, Lancaster’s final day of work is scheduled for June 2020, according to his letter to LTISD parents.
The letter states that in the new few weeks, the district will release details and a timeline regarding the search for a new superintendent. Throughout the spring, Lancaster will aid the board, senior staff and the Educational Leadership Team in their respective transitions.
“To say it has been an honor and a privilege to work in Lake Travis ISD would be an understatement,” Lancaster said; he added that he could not think of a better place to conclude his career.
Lancaster was hired in 2012 following the resignation of former LTISD Superintendent Rocky Kirk. He received his doctorate in education from Texas A&M University in College Station. Throughout his career in education, he has worked as a teacher, an assistant principal and an executive director for curriculum. Prior to his position at LTISD, he served at the superintendent of Midway ISD in Waco.
