Following an interview process, EISD selected Stantec to complete the co-curricular and extracurricular projects funded by the May bond. The projects include the expansion of the Westlake High School robotics lab and the construction of aquatics and wrestling facilities.
Stantec’s proposal estimated architecture costs at $845,000, according to district information. According to the board, Stantec was the most qualified based on experience.
Separate advisory groups were formed for the individual facility projects, according to Superintendent Dr. Tom Leonard.
“We’re in the planning stages, but we’re still on track,” Dr. Leonard said.
EISD will update 32 school buses with new seat belts
The board of trustees voted to approve an $840,500 contract with Buck’s Wheel and Equipment Co. during an Aug. 13 special meeting.
The project was included in the approval of the 2019 bond.
The contract will allow EISD to retrofit 32 route and field trip buses with new three-point seat belts. The safety measure is in accordance with Texas Transportation Code 547.701.
All future buses will be equipped with three-point seat belts.
The approvals unanimously passed without discussion.
