Schools throughout the Lake Travis-Westlake area are implementing safety protocols following Austin's citywide boil notice Monday morning.

All Eanes ISD campuses are identified as affected by the boil water notice, Director of Communication & Community Engagement Claudia McWhorter said, adding EISD custodians have blocked use of drinking fountains and bottled water is being delivered to all schools.

Lake Travis ISD Director of Communications Marco Alvarado said a boil water notice has been issued affecting the following Lake Travis ISD schools and facilities:

  • Bee Cave Elementary

  • Lake Pointe Elementary

  • Lake Travis Middle School

  • LTISD Transportation/Distribution/Information Technology Center

All other schools within LTISD receive water from other treatment services and are not impacted at this time, Alvarado said in a press release.

Restrooms are not impacted and may continue to be used. However, hand washing will not be permitted until further notice, the release said.

"District staff will be covering water fountains and delivering hand sanitizer and bottled water for students and staff at the impacted schools," the release said. "Our Food and Nutrition Services department will make the appropriate arrangements to continue lunch services as regularly scheduled."

District officials were still awaiting notice from water providers as of Monday morning, Alvarado said, adding that updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Water is safe for customers of Lakeway Municipal Utility District, Hurst Creek MUD, and Water Control and Improvement District No. 17 (WCID 17), according to a notice from the City of Lakeway.

Because of debris from flooding, Austin Water and Crossroads MUDs No. 11, No. 12, and No.13 issued a boil water notice the morning of Oct. 22. At this time, there is no timeline for when the Crossroads notice will be canceled. For more information on the Crossroads MUDs, see www.crossroads.us.com.
