Central Texas' iconic restaurant Hudson's on the Bend came under the new ownership of chef Joseph Farner and his wife, Carlin Farner, in July.

The fine dining restaurant was established in 1984 by acclaimed chef Jeff Blank whose signature Southwestern dishes included unusual meats, such as wild game and rattlesnake. Since Blank sold the company in 2016, the restaurant has changed hands a couple of times.

Meet the owners

The Farners plan to introduce an entirely new menu while bringing back two of Blank's signature grill-fired dishes using the decades-old smoker and eventually host nightly live music events.


"We want to pay tribute to Jeff's traditions, but we acknowledge that Lakeway has changed a lot since then," Carlin said. “Our hope is to broaden the menu and make it more approachable beyond just special events."

Joseph Farner has been a chef in Austin for almost 20 years and most recently owned the food truck Press Kitchen ATX at Far Out Lounge.
