The first phase of one of the largest developments in Spicewood is set to open this summer.

What you need to know

The community, called Loraloma, will feature a swimming hole, biking trails, a wellness facility, a fitness center and a forthcoming boutique hotel, according to a news release. The first 25 lots will hit the market this summer, development company Areté Collective announced May 10.

Zooming out

Loraloma is the first phase of Thomas Ranch—a 2,220-acre community that was approved by Travis County officials in 2017. Once completed, the development will have over 3,000 homes, 40 miles of winding trails and an 18-hole golf course that will break ground in the fall and be open to members by early 2025. Thomas Ranch will also have a walkable city center with restaurants, shops, schools and health care facilities.

Next steps

The project is estimated to take up to 15 years to complete and will have a population of 6,000-10,000 people.
