Bee Cave City Council approved the project during its Dec. 10 meeting. Information from the city states the bridge will connect Building T, above Chisos Grill, and Building R, across the street from Whole Foods Market.
The project is for American Campus Communities, which recently renewed its lease to a 10-year term and expanded to have office space in both buildings T and R.
Preston Pillsbury, an asset manager with CBRE who is handling operations for the galleria's management firm INVESCO, said construction for the bridge will begin sometime in the first quarter of 2020 and should take between 120 and 150 days.
"We recently extended American Campus [Communities'] lease renewal, and this bridge is part of what was negotiated as part of that renewal," Pillsbury said.
The stated purpose of the bridge is to increase accessibility between the two second-floor office suites.
City information states two trees will need to be removed to install the bridge, and the owner will pay a tree-mitigation fee of $3,625 in lieu of replacing the trees.
