The annual event focused on building relationships between local law-enforcement agencies and the communities they serve sees about 1,000 attendees a year, according to Scott Gerdes, West Lake Hills police chief.
In Texas, the event falls on the first Tuesday in October, several weeks after the Labor Day weekend.
“If pattern holds, you’ll see a spike in [coronavirus] cases after one of these holiday weekends because of the inevitable gathering of crowds,” Anthony said.
Council Member Beth South suggested honoring the city’s first responders through a virtual event—an option that is under consideration by the city.
