Lake Travis ISD Superintendent Brad Lancaster announced in a live broadcast April 9 that the search process for his replacement will experience a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After more than eight years with the district, Lake Travis ISD Superintendent Brad Lancaster will officially retire this summer, with his final day scheduled for July 1.
Prior to the coronavirus outbreak and district closure, LTISD contracted services with Thompson & Horton LLP to aid in the search process for a new superintendent.

LTISD Communications Director Marco Alvarado confirmed the process timeline will lag by about two months, with the expected start date for the new superintendent now set for Aug. 1.

The board of trustees was previously scheduled to meet March 23 to review all applications; however, that meeting was postponed.

“I’m happy to stick around an extra month in July if they need me to, “Lancaster said. “Whatever this board needs, I’m happy to do.”

The interview process is now set to begin in early June, according to Lancaster.

Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, search consultants Mike Moses and David Thompson said, the district had received a great deal of interest in the open position.

As part of the search process, Thompson & Horton LLP made use of a number of focus groups in an effort to obtain the community’s input. The groups, which met in late February, each comprised about 14 to 18 people, including parents, staff, community members and even students.

That dialogue highlighted certain concerns and themes within the district and will be referenced within the search and hiring process., Thompson and Moses said.
