Eanes ISD and its technology team sprung into action March 27 to aid health care workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The district donated 70 iPads to Austin’s Dell Seton Medical Center, following a request from the hospital made the morning of March 27.

The technology staff quickly prepared and charged the retired iPad devices, which were not assigned to students, and delivered them to hospital staff in the afternoon, according to Claudia McWhorter, executive director of communication and community engagement.

“Putting these older iPads to where they can be of immediate value to local healthcare workers on the front lines is the least we can do,” Superintendent Tom Leonard said in an email to Community Impact Newspaper. “This was a quick effort to help the broader community and we were happy to help.”
