For the second time, the city of Lakeway has been awarded a Gold Scenic City certification.

According to a news release issued by the city, Lakeway got the award Oct. 10 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in San Antonio during the Texas Municipal League's Annual Conference week, and it is one of 22 cities in Texas earning first-time certification or re-certification.

The Scenic City Certification Program is the first in the U.S. to incorporate a comprehensive set of model standards for design and development of public roadways and public spaces into one program, the release states.

Other cities in western Travis County certified with scenic statuses include West Lake Hills, which was awarded a Silver Scenic City award in July, and Bee Cave, which was recognized as an official Platinum Scenic City last October.
