Bee Cave recognizes car show creator, benefactor

Mayor Monty Parker recognized Dean Mericas at the Jan. 22 Bee Cave City Council meeting.

Mericas, who founded the Hill Country Rolling Sculpture Car Show in 2008, has raised more than $70,000 for the Friends of Bee Cave Public Library over the past 11 years.

A proclamation read by Parker states the funds have supported the library through expanded programming for adults, reading program enhancements and the addition of furniture to the library, among many other initiatives.

The proclamation states Mericas has announced his retirement from the Rolling Sculpture Car Show and extends best wishes in all his future endeavors.
